My thoughts on Spotlight

Based on a true story, “Spotlight” is about the Boston Globe uncovering the massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese, shaking the entire Catholic Church to its core.

Everything about this film is remarkable! The cinematography and editing and pacing is superb! The whole cast gave an incredible performance, especially Mark Ruffalo, Keaton & Schreiber. The actors really captivate the stress and emotions of covering up something so vile. Every single thing about “Spotlight” is just impeccable! The film never drags one bit thanks to the incredible script. Each and every scene feels important and rich. From beginning to end my eyes were glued to the screen.

This film will definitely be a strong contender come awards season. I think this film should be nominated for Best Picture, Best Directing, and lastly be nominated for its screenplay.

Anyways, who would have guessed that the director of “The Cobbler” (Tom McCarthy) would give us one of the best films of the year! He did a terrific job directing as well as co-writing the script with Josh Singer. Go watch “Spotlight” when you can! It’s a very thought-provoking film.

My thoughts on Spectre

 “Better than QoS”

Before I talk about what I didn’t like about Spectre, let’s talk a bit about the positive stuff. The acting performances are fantastic! The whole cast did a terrific job and Daniel Craig shows us once again why he’s one of the best James Bond. The score is fantastic like always! The action sequences are great! Everything looks mesmerizing. This is one of the best shot bond films ever thanks to DiP Hoyte van Hoytema (Her, Interstellar, The Fighter).

Alright, now the stuff I didn’t like – I thought the story was a bit flat. The plot felt sloppy and the way it was told was all over the place. It wasn’t smooth storytelling. The pacing was off. The other disappointment I had was how some of the characters were introduced or utilized. With such a great cast, there was lots of unused potential, an example of this would be Christoph Waltz. The character development felt too rushed in my opinion.

Overall, I did not hate Spectre. It’s certainly not better than Casino Royale and Skyfall but its decent enough to see it in the theatre, especially if your a big James Bond fan.
