#10 – The Martian Full Review Here
“The Martian” is a return to form for Sir Ridley Scott! It’s one of Ridley Scott’s best film in years! Matt Damon gives one of his best performances of all time! “The Martian” has great characters, and performances, and its masterfully directed/written. If your looking for a fun sci-fi, “The Martian” is the one you should watch.
#9 – Mad Max: Fury Road
Mad Max: Fury Road deserves all the hype its getting because it’s fucking fantastic! Watch it! It’s so much fucking fun! Absolutely brilliant! Not really much else to say, watch it, it will be worth your time.
#8 – Ex Machina Full Review HereOne of the best Sci-Fi films ever! “Ex Machina” is riveting from start to finish and there’s not a dull moment. The acting performances are fantastic especially from Alicia Vikander, Ava. It’s brilliantly cast, intelligently written and beautifully shot. “Ex Machina” is a riveting ride but also a thought-provoking one. Go see it!
#7 – Room
Loved everything about this film. I did not expect get so emotional. Throughout the movie, during some scenes I got teary-eyed. Seeing the trauma between Joy/Ma (Brie Larson) and Jack (Jacob Tremblay) experienced was gut-wrenching. “Room” is a very beautiful film that I think you all should see. Incredibly moving but sort of hard to watch. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
#6 – The Lobster
Weird and at the same time beautiful. I really enjoyed this film but it is truly bizzare. At times I was laughing and at times I was in complete shock and creeped out. Anyways, it has phenomenal performances and it is very well directed/written. The cinematography was lovely and the soundtrack is great! I really enjoyed watching this and was engrossed the whole time. It is thoroughly incredible and I never watched anything like this ever.
#5 – Victoria
I didn’t expect to be so drawn into this film. Although the “one take” might seem like a gimmick, it works for this film. I actually think that the “one take” actually enhanced the experience. With this in mind and the fact that most of the dialogue was improvised, “Victoria” is as real as it gets. The story might seem a bit weak, but the cinematography, pacing, soundtrack and characters all combined together create a stellar film. “Victoria” is thoroughly phenomenal. Highly recommend this!
#4 – Spotlight Full Review Here
Everything about this film is spectacular and it deserves all the buzz its getting. “Spotlight” is very well written and masterfully directed. I was hooked from beginning to end. Powerful performances all around and a very important film to watch.
#3 – The Revenant
Brutal and Beautiful. Inarritu delivers once again and the performances he gets from Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy are phenomenal. The cinematography in this film is fucking jaw-dropping/unreal; thanks to Chivo. The acting performances like previously mentioned is top-notch and I feel like both DiCaprio and Hardy have a great shot getting the statue. The sound design and score I thought was fantastic and really suited the events that was occuring on screen. Overall, I fucking loved every minute of “The Revenant.” Lots of memorable scenes. Breath-taking visuals. I highly recommend you check this one out. It’s awesome!
#2 – The Big Short
A great film that’s very entertaining and very informative. Although the story might sound boring (its about the financial crisis), the story is so fascinating, you’ll be glued to the screen. I really didn’t expect to be so captivated. Great performances from the whole cast and overall very well written. Adam McKay did a superb job directing. “The Big Short” did a great job in taking such a boring topic that confuses many, including me and delivers on showing the collapse of the financial crisis in 2007/2008 and how a few people decided to take on the big banks for their greed before the financial crisis erupted. Solid film!
#1 – Sicario Full Review Here
Riveting. Tense. Raw. I loved every single thing about “Sicario.” The cinematography from Deakins was mesmerizing. The acting performances from Blunt, Brolin, and Del Toro are phenomenal. Benecio Del Toro should get nominated. The music was chilling and intense. Denis Villenueve does it once again and gives us another great film. “Sicario” is very entertaining and at the same time very thought-provoking. You see both sides of the drug war and you really see how terrifying corruption is. Denis Villenueve is one of my favourite directors and I will be first in line to all his projects. I can’t wait to see how he handles the next Blade Runner, Villenueve is gonna crush it! Villenuevve has another project which is suppose to be released in 2016 called “Story of Your Life” which stars Amy Adams. Jeremy Renner, Forest Whitaker and more! Watch it ASAP!
Here’s my list for my top 10 movies of 2015! See you next year!
