Set in the backdrop of cold war era America during the 60s, Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is a mute woman who works as a cleaner in a high-security government laboratory where she discovers a secret classified experiment. Del Toro’s attention to detail is impeccable. From the beautiful soundtrack, to the gorgeous cinematography/colour palette/set design, and to the phenomenal performances, Guillermo del Toro gives us one of the best films of his career, and of the year. Sally Hawkins and Doug Jones deliver immaculate performances despite not speaking a single word to each other. Every character is great. Alexander Desplat’s score is lovely too. Guillermo del Toro shows us why he’s one of the best film-makers working today and the film speaks for itself. It’s a work of art.
In conclusion, it’s truly a magical film that’s perfect all across the board. Del Toro completely engrosses you into the world and into this beautiful, sincere, romantic fairy tale from the very start until the very end. If you love cinema, watch it.

Side-note > I’ve seen this film at the Elgin theatre during TIFF which was used as a set for the film so it was one of the coolest screenings I’ve ever attended.
“What the fu—”
Javier Bardem and Jennifer Lawrence are a married couple living in a house together and uninvited guests arrive at their home and shit happens. I know this is vague, but I don’t want to go too much into detail about the film. It can be interpreted in many ways. What I can say thoroughly is that the performances are incredible all around from the entire cast, especially Jennifer Lawrence. The cinematography is fantastic, the nature of it made me feel uneasy and claustrophobic throughout. Along with how beautifully shot the film was, the sound design/mixing was crisp. You hear every creak, every footstep, it was done to perfection and the house felt “real.” The film was beautifully done with great detail all across the board. It was painted to perfection.
To conclude my thoughts, I loved the film. There are several allegories in the film that will definitely impact how you view the film throughout and how you react/feel to it after.

I absolutely adored this film! ‘La La Land’ hit all the right notes – phenomenal performances, impeccable cinematography, terrific writing, and an incredible soundtrack. After watching the film, I wanted to listen to the soundtrack over and over again. The pacing was fantastic too, there was never a dull moment and I was hooked from start to finish. Another thing that I wanna point out is how aesthetically pleasing the color palette is, very vibrant. In terms of the story, it’s truly wonderful and its very inspirational.
Alright in terms of the negatives, I got literally none. It was such a joy to watch all throughout! The entire cast and crew did such an incredible job and created something really special. It’s one of the best films of the year and it’s my pick for best film of the year. It’s definitely a must-see on the big screen! It’s gonna be nominated for a bunch of awards and win a ton too, and deservedly so. Instant classic.
Thank you Damien Chazelle.

PS: That ending…….
Moonlight is filled with breathtaking performances, a beautiful score, an engrossing powerful story, stellar visuals, and its directed to perfection. I was just blown away while watching the film and I was in awe afterwards. I highly recommend you watch the film and just sit back and relax and enjoy the story of Chiron. I have seen the film twice now and it gets even better on a second viewing. Each shot conveyed so much emotion. It’s just so brilliant in every way. The performances really blew me away too.
All the three actors who played Chiron, Naomie Harris as Chiron’s mom, and Mahershala Ali deserve a ton of awards and the film itself deserves all the praise its been getting. In conclusion, its one of the best films of the year and I highly recommend you to check it out. Once you watch the film, you’ll realize why everyone’s been raving about it. It’s directed to the crisp by Barry Jenkins, gorgeously shot, very well written, and filled with incredible performances. The film will 100% be a contender for this years Academy Awards and it should get nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Mahershala Ali, and Best Supporting Actress for Naomie Harris and win a few.

From the very first minute and throughout the whole film, I was thoroughly enthralled. Nocturnal Animals is superbly filmed and along with the performances from the entire cast, riveting plot, and interesting characters, it’s one hell of a thrill ride. Another thing that I adored about this film other than the impeccable cinematography, phenomenal performances, and engrossing story was the soundtrack. In terms of what the story is about, all you’ll need to know is that it’s about an art gallery owner, played by the wonderful Amy Adams, who receives a book written by her ex-husband Jake Gyllenhaal.
In conclusion, Nocturnal Animals is a phenomenal film and one of the best films of the year! It has a very intriguing story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, incredible performances, exquisite cinematography, a fantastic score, and is masterly directed and written by Tom Ford. I highly recommend you to check this film out as it will definitely be spoken about when the Academy Awards near. Absolutely beautiful and entertaining.

I really enjoyed this film! I thought that Nate Parker did a terrific job with his directorial debut as well as showing his acting and writing chops. The story is very engaging and compelling, it tells the story of a slave, Nat Turner, played by Nate Parker who leads a slave rebellion. As the film progresses, I never got bored at any point. I was completely engaged and I thought the film was really well paced. In terms of the supporting cast, they were all solid and mostly full of unknowns except for the guy from Preacher and Armie Hammer. In terms of the cinematography, I thought the film was very well shot. The soundtrack was also fantastic.
In conclusion, I thoroughly think that this was a very well crafted film, especially from a first time director. It’s a very thought provoking/riveting film that gives you insight into how slavery was during the 1800s, the story about Nat Turner and his rebellion and about the inhumane act of slavery/racism in general.

I really enjoyed this film! It had everything you would want in a horror film! Great performances especially from Stephen Lang and Jane Levy, great cinematography, wonderful sound design and a very eerie score! All this combined together created such a tense and creepy filled atmosphere and one of the best films of the year! After such a disappointing summer season, it was very refeshing to watch a great film. One of my favourite parts of the film happens when all the lights are out. The way that whole sequence of events was shot along with the sound design and the performances from the characters really raised the tension levels from 100% to 1000%. During this time as well as other times throughout watching the film, I was holding my breath just like the characters. In conclusion, DONT BREATHE is a fantastic horror film that will keep you on the edge of your seat! It’s super fun/scary and if you love thrillers, this is really one to watch!
